Slow Cooker Sweet Barbecue Chicken Drumsticks
I love how easy this chicken recipe is from prep to homemade barbecue sauce to clean-up. It is a one pot dish that goes great with summer sides like a garden salad, rice, or grilled corn on the cob in the summer and something hearty like mashed potatoes in the fall. This recipe is the perfect way to use up a pack of drumsticks and super easy because there is no need to brown the chicken legs beforehand like in some recipes.
The homemade barbecue sauce is sweet and spicy and also has a nice finish with the dried rosemary. Whip up this dinner and let it sit and cook while you spend your day outside!
1 pack of 8-10 chicken drumsticks
2 tablespoons of melted butter
1 cup of ketchup
1 tablespoon of spicy mustard
2 tablespoons of dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of dried rosemary
1/2 cup of water
Spray your slow cooker/crock pot with non-stick cooking spray. Lay out your chicken drumsticks in one layer as best as you can. It is okay to have one or two on top.
In a medium bowl melt your butter and then mix in the ketchup. Add the mustard, brown sugar, lemon juice, and rosemary and mix.
Slowly add in the water while stirring to combine. Pour the barbecue sauce over top of the chicken drumsticks.
Set on high for approximately 4 hours or you can set on low for 6-8 hours or until the chicken is thoroughly cooked.
