Nothing Like Cookies in the Mail

The holiday season is starting to really come together. We have been baking cookies batch by batch each Christmas cookies from a friendnight and have been helping Santa deliver some joy around the neighborhood. We even leave cookies for our faithful UPS driver who braves our dirt road in the winter delivering all those Amazon orders! Cookies to me have always been a sign of Christmas. Nothing is better than delivering a box of homemade cookies to people you know.

It’s been a crazy week and after the last batch of cookies the other day, I was wiped and overtired. That little nagging feeling of “why do I kill myself every year” crept up and I went to bed with mixed feelings.

Well, I was reminded why I bake all those cookies the very next day. A package arrived with the words fragile all over it and I was trying to figure out what the heck I had ordered that I had forgotten about. Inside was the biggest most beautiful tin of homemade Christmas cookies from a dear friend of mine who had moved away this summer. Quite honestly, I was beside myself at how wonderful that was to receive her gift. It meant so much, especially since we no longer get to see one another as much.

So that afternoon, while munching on her AMAZING cookies, I wound up baking another batch of my own as a few other people popped into mind that I thought might need a special delivery. I hope everyone this season bakes a batch of cookies or two and shares with those they love. Tis the season, and nothing says “I love you” more than cookies baked from the heart. Thanks Kristina for reminding me why I bake!

Nice gesture – nothing like cookies baked with love. Have a Merry Christmas, and if only we weren’t a state apart I’d drop some off. 🙂
