Finally Spring?

Even though the calendar has said it has been spring for a few weeks now, it sure hasn’t seemed like it. Rain, cold and cloudy days, planting kale high winds, and close to freezing nights has kept a lot of us indoors. Today however, I have declared it spring!

The sun came out. The wind died down. The clouds were light, white, and fluffy. It was the first nice day we have had in so long we might have pushed it a bit too much. My hands are blistered and my back aches, but I’m smiling! We were able to clean up some garden beds as well as plant peas, start seedlings, and most wonderfully, eat dinner out on the porch. We also planted a few pots of seeds to plant later.

The first garden bed of the season all cleaned out and planted!

Our rhubarb has started to come up!

It felt so good to be outside, turning the dirt over and pushing our seeds in the ground, we just didn’t want the day to end so we fired up the grill and had burgers outside. Now that is a great way to start the week!

That sounds like a perfect day–aches and blisters and burgers and all!

Isn’t it wonderful? I didn’t think it would ever get to our part of the country. I planted some peas over the weekend. 🙂

I know just how you feel, this spring has been a long time in coming. I’m never as happy as I am playing in the garden. This weekend promises warm temps. We’ll see!
