Snowshoeing Out Back

We finally got a lovely amount of snow that is just perfect for snowshoeing out in our back woods. I love walking back there in the winter as everything transforms into a wonderland. Areas that are overgrown and impassable in the summer open up and reveal beautiful and unknown spots of wildlife. It was extremely windy so we didn’t get to see any animals but we saw signs of them everywhere.

I love the old relics. We have lots of them around us as well, rusted firmly in place. I imagine the horse pulling the farmer around and around the fields, the clackety-clacking of machine, the soft thud of hooves and the quiet commands spoken in low tones. We belong to a horse-powered CSA here in town, so it isn’t so very hard to imagine!

Great pictures of long ago farming equipment! I was just out snowshoeing last week. It was way more work than I had expected (which was good) and I loved how you could go places in the winter you might not be able to due to depth of snow. Visiting via “FromtheFarm” blog hop.
